Following a 2016 update, the guard emoji was assigned two genders. The man guard emoji is completely indistinguishable from the original, and shows a man in an Irish Guardsโ uniform. He wears a tall, black, furry bear skin hat with has either a yellow or grey chin strap, depending on the emoji platform used. In most versions his scarlet uniform is also visible, and can show black epaulets and golden buttons. Itโs primarily used to represent the city of London and of England, but it can also be used as a playful reference to protection of something or someone, or to guard something.
